Charming pub & restaurant in Northwich

Overview

The Spinner & Bergamot is an archetypal village pub which has retained all the traditional qualities together with modern innovations. The pub is in the beautiful Cheshire countryside and is set in landscaped gardens and a championship bowling green to the rear. The history of The Spinner and Bergamot Inn, once belonged to the honorable Smith Barry family, of Marbury Hall. The Inn was built back in 1746, with a few hidden tales to be told. The establishment was once called ‘The Spinner’, which was linked to the local spinning room between Pickmere and Wincham. At the time, this was Sir Huge Barry Smith’s favourite ale house, so much so, he named his race hose after the Inn. ‘The Spinner’ was a grey filly and in 1762 she won four times and went to win the Ladies Plate in Scarborough in 1764. Spinner & Bergamot has a great selection of quality real ales, with housing Robinsons award-winning ales; Unicorn, you will also find an eclectic mix of wines and soft drinks. Robinsons are looking for the ideal applicant for the Spinner & bergamot. They would be someone with a food operation background as well as wanting to push the local community feel and beverage offer. With this being one of the only pubs in the village, someone with a local community feel, would also be needed.

The Detail

A Little more about us

The village that the Spinner & Bergamot is in is the small civil parish of Comberbach, which is in the heart of Cheshire, near to Northwich, approx. half-way between Manchester and Chester. Although a small rural village it is just a couple of miles south from the M56 and west of the M6 motorway networks making the location idyllic for those who like the country life but has access to the bustling motorways. The village comprises of traditional farming communities who now live alongside more urban commuters who have settled in the village over the past 40 years, and who together share an enjoyment of rural life and a sense of community living. With just one Post Office shop, a small wooden garage, a primary school, a Methodist Chapel, and a public house the facilities are rather limited by today’s modern amenities, but that’s part of the overall attraction of the village. Close by are other small rural villages plus the unique Anderton Boat Lift on the Trent and Mersey canal and the open spaces of Marbury Park and Budworth Mere. The Village is very active in country pursuits and hosts many groups and associations.
