THE FLOWER POT, MACCLESFIELD, BLOOMS FOLLOWING £1M INVESTMENT

The popular Flower Pot pub, situated on Congleton Road in Macclesfield, has reopened its doors following a 3-month long refurbishment from Stockport based Robinsons Brewery. The renovation continues Robinsons' commitment to investing into their 250-plus strong tenanted and managed pub estate.

The pub comes with a rich history, and was built by the brewery as an inter-war purpose built pub, first opening to the public in September 1939 (just after the outbreak of WWII and during the ‘blackout’.) The Flower Pot was the last of a group of six roadside inns built by the company in the 1930’s in the arts and crafts style, and has now had renovation of almost £1M.

The pub, which was scheduled to be handed back to the community at the end of March, was forced to delay its reopening due to the ongoing pandemic; forcing customers to wait a little longer to get their hands on their favourite pint. During the closure, the team have put measures in place to ensure a safe visit for all guests without losing the Flower Pot’s atmosphere. Now open, the pub is using a Track and Trace system utilising the pub’s Wi-Fi, one-way system, single use menus, table service and plenty of sanitiser stations. Despite the measures, the Flower Pot is once again buzzing with customers enjoying their favourite drinks and food.

The external beer garden - or “the beach” - as it is known locally, has received new ample seating and tables, providing the perfect place to relax with friends or family in the sun. The front of the pub has additionally benefited from fresh landscaping and a new signage scheme.

The Flower Pot, which prides itself on its family-friendly offering and community, has been completely transformed with a new impressive solid oak bar featuring pendant lighting, cosy snug areas with fixed and loose seating and an all-important pool room which local teams from the community frequently enjoy.

The colour scheme throughout the pub incorporates greens, browns and creams, with complimentary ‘flowerpots’ decorating the walls and furnishings, alongside leafy vines draping over the tranquil dining area.

Continuing at the helm of the pub is former manager Glenn Farrell, along with wife Sam and a team of old and new faces that will continue to serve great food and drinks daily. The Flower Pot’s new menu is packed full of pub classics such as mouth-watering pizza, burgers and, of course, delicious fish and chips along with lighter options for business lunches or just casual lunchtime dining (including a great selection of wraps and salads).

We’re proud that we’ve managed to maintain a great balance of the old with the new. The community has always been at the heart of everything we do so reopening the doors after such a long time away was a wonderful feeling. The pub marks one of three significant investments into their 2020 managed offering, together with the recent refurbishment of the popular Bulls Head in Hale Barns and the reopening of the much-loved Y Bryncynan in Morfa Nefyn, North Wales.
